We use a ribbon mic about a foot away from the F hole of the instrument, sometime a room mic also about 6 feet away.  Really depends on the part they are playing.  Binary Recording Studio

It's important to not mic to close.  The sound develops a few feet from the sound hole. Mic about a foot or two away from the guitar and then use a room mic to get the sound.  Binary Recording Studio
